Olivers Army Message Board Gudelines
These guidelines are in place to keep the message board a decent place to be. The moderators retain the right to modify and delete any item should they think it is against the board guidelines. We want this to be a place where people act in a civil manner. If you aren't sure about anything at all, PM a mod. You can do this by clicking on the 'PM' icon under their name in the left hand column of the screen.
If you cannot keep to these rules then you may be given a warning. If you still cannot keep to the rules, your account will be suspended.
In exceptional circumstances we will ban on a first offence.
The decision of the moderators is final
Please leave moderating to the mods
Sometimes Moderators may edit posts. Where appropriate, this will be recorded by placing comments in red text. If this happens to one of your posts, do not edit what the moderator has written.
If a moderator writes in red text, they are speaking as a moderator. If they use any other colour, they are speaking as themselves. Mods are people too.
Please avoid using red text in your posts and signatures for this reason.
If you think the topic may have been posted recently, then please do a search on the forums first.
When posting news items, please state the source AND copy and paste the story into the post.
When starting a new topic, make sure the title reflects the subject in an accurate manner. Vague topic titles lead to duplicate threads.
Please keep things on topic - that means in the relevant forum and thread. If one thread exists with the same/similar subject, please post in that rather than creating a whole new thread.
Posts consisting solely of smilies, or of a quote plus smilies will be deleted.
The main language of this forum is English - no other languages, please!
NO 'txt speak' - it is "and" not "n". It is "you", not "u"... etc etc.
Please use at least the basic grammar rules - full stops and capital letters please! I know this sounds like you are back at school, but we want to be able to read what you have written!
Do not just place a link to an article, paste the article and include a link to the original. When linking please use the messageboard 'Insert Email or URL hyperlink' button for links.
Swearing is not acceptable. Please consider that children read this site and moderate your language as you normally would in front of them. Repeated swearing will get you a warning and ultimately a ban.
Insults are not acceptable. Keep personal vendettas and insults out of this messageboard, please. Simple. Think before you post. When posting make sure you post on the comment, not the person. Continual personal attacks or comments on a poster and not the post content will result in warnings. There is no excuse for personal attacks. If you do not like this website, do not post threads about it. They will be deleted and it will be made easier for you as you will be banned.
Don't bother advertising your stuff on these boards. They will be deleted. If you wish to promote something, PM a mod for permission. This includes ebay auctions.
Aliases are not permitted. Stick to the one account. We'll find out if you have more than one account - and promptly ban both of them.
Please remember that this website is read by all ages - so keep your images suitable for all ages.
This isn't a porn site. Please mark any potentially unsafe threads as Not Safe For Work (or NSFW) in the title.
Obviously discussions can lead to disagreements. However, it gets boring if the argument spans over several pages and repeats over the same points.
This forum is subject to libel laws so please refrain from unfounded accusations against any public figures. If you are unsure then it is probably best not to post it.
If you are continually being banned and/or abusing members, you will be reported to your ISP for abuse of the account.
If you use the private messaging or signature feature to abuse members, then you may be warned and have your PM privileges turned off. If you feel you have been abused through PM, then do not reply to the message and let a moderator know - we will then verify the claim and deal with it accordingly.
